Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor
Those firms, whose activities include the carriage, or the related packing, loading, filling or unloading of dangerous goods by road are required to appoint one or more Safety Advisers whose responsibility will be to help prevent the risks inherent in such activities with regard to Persons, Property and the Environment.
The Adviser must attend training, pass an examination approved by the Competent Authority and hold a Vocational Training Certificate. The Certificate lasts for 5 years and can be renewed by the Adviser passing an examination anytime during the year before its expiry.
DANGEROUS GOODS SAFETY ADVISER CONSULTANCY
Although organisations should employ their own DGSA, we are able to offer a limited amount of Consultancy in this area.
This would consist of taking on the role of the Adviser as in Chapter 1.8.3 of ADR, which includes
* Monitoring compliance with the requirements governing the carriage of dangerous goods.
* Advising his undertaking on the carriage of dangerous goods
* Preparing an annual report to the Management of his undertaking or a local public authority, as appropriate, on the undertakings activities in the carriage of dangerous goods. Such annual reports shall be preserved for five years and made available to the national authorities at their request.
